Domaine TRAPET Père et Fils -- Some 2012s from bottle

Domaine TRAPET Père et Fils (Gevrey-Chambertin)

2012s from Bottle

Jean-Louis Trapet had a number of 2012s open from a family gathering the previous day:

2012 Gevrey-Chambertin
The nose is spicy. The mouth is deep, dark, pure, and crystalline. Some red currants here, too. 91+/A

2012 Gevrey-Chambertin  Ostrea
The vines here are 90% in the Bruchon (just to the north of Gevrey-Chambertin. This wine is not as structured as the previous one (although that is not a deficiency). This wine shows red cherry fruit with very good length and harmony. 91/A

2012 Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru   Alea

Trapet’s holdings in premier cru vineyards are small in each one, and in years of small production such as 2012, they are combined to a single wine, labelled “Alea.” This wine is mineral, pure, medium-light, and airy. It is very pretty and shows lots of finesse. 93/A
