Domaine Pierre GELIN (Fixin) -- A Pair of 2015s Tasted from Barrel Samples

Pierre-Emmanuel Gelin has now taken over from his father Stéphen. These two wines show that the same quality wines, never flashy but always of interest, are still being made.

2015 Gevrey-Chambertin     1er Cru    Clos Prieur
The Clos Prieur shows dark plums and other dark fruits that characterize the vineyard. There’s also a little minerality here. The wine is tannic, though, and may be a little slower to come around than many other 2015s. (88-92)

2015 Chambertin-Clos de Bèze
Gelin’s Chambertin-Clos de Bèze is mineral with dark fruits. It has not quite the purity of the best Clos de Beze, but the wine shows good density, concentration, and energy. (91-94)
